The Equipment of Kung Fu
There are many different pieces of equipment used in Kung Fu training. These include training dummies, elastic ropes and gloves, as well as sticks and training dummies. All of these tools will help you improve your physical performance. These are the most popular pieces of equipment for Kung Fu.
Training dummies
Training dummies have been used throughout the history of Kung Fu to practice different techniques. A specific dummy is often made for a specific style, such Wing Chun. These dummies can be used for conditioning exercises. One of the most well-known types is the Wing Chun dummy. This dummy is based upon the original Ip Man dummy.
Many styles of dummies are made from simple poles and wood. These dummies provide students with instant feedback on the proper body structure, while giving them an opportunity to develop their reflexes. In addition, they can be used to work on proper technique, since they mimic a real situation.
Sticks
Sticks are a common weapon in martial arts. They vary greatly in size, design, material, and methodology, but they all have one thing in common: they are used in conjunction with open hand techniques. Traditional kung fu styles like eskrima, arnis, and tae kwon do use rattan or butterfruit sticks, which are wielded single or in pairs.
Kung Fu sticks are the most common weapon used in kung fu. They are used to strike and choke opponents. A. C. Cunningham was the first to develop this traditional weapon in the early 1900s. His system was documented in his book, The Cane as a Weapon.
Elastic ropes
Kung Fu uses elastic ropes in a variety of ways. They help students improve their timing and precision while also supporting the weight hanging speedballs. Other uses of elastic ropes in kung fu include introducing students to flexible weapons and preparing them for more advanced weapon training.

Striking dummies
Striking dummies are used in kung fu training for several reasons. First, they give students a chance to practice striking techniques without having to risk being attacked themselves. The dummies can be made from leather or fabric and protect the practitioner from hand strikes. There were 140 movements that could be practiced with dummies in the early days. Yip Man simplified this form later to 108 or 116 movements. The dummies are made to simulate the body movement and position of a real person.
Different styles of Kung Fu use striking dummies. Some use a simple stick while others have more complicated ones that have moving parts. The style of martial art can allow the dummy to imitate height, weight, resistance, and more.
Fighting dummies
Martial artists often use dummies in training. The goal is to improve timing and strike timing. Fighting dummies are made to resemble the body positions and movements of a real opponent. This allows you to simulate how a real opponent would react to certain techniques.
Dummies are a common tool in Chinese boxing. It has also been documented in the southern provinces. R. W. Smith, an agent of CIA Taiwan, studied Chinese boxing in the 1960s. He noticed that many of his informants used fake dummies and provided photographs to prove it.
Wooden combat machines
Weapons made from wooden material are used in some styles of Kung Fu. The Long Pole is one example. This wooden pole is eight to thirteen feet in length, and can be used in unarmed combat. It is also called a dragon pole. It is used in a form of martial arts known as Luk Dim Boon Gwun. This style uses 7 principles to effectively defeat opponents. These principles include dim shock and got-cut down, wan circle, and kit deflect.
